Aurora's old Grille parts packs includes two different sizes of tube grilles with a little more spacing between the bars.

I was thinking something along the same lines Chris.........but thought of the AMT parts pack grilles (a bit more obtainable). There's one with horizontal bars and a fine 'mesh' or 'machined' like pattern behind/between the bars that would work very well here. In fact, it is shaped almost identical to the DeSoto grille.....and might be one now that I think about it! LOL!

The previous pictures have .035" rod in the grille. That equates to 7/8" in diameter. In the following picture I used .025" diameter rod which equates to 5/8". I'll paint both with flat black then try to see if my Molotow markers will work to "chrome" the bars. Thanks for your continued interest. Gary Hosted on Fotki

Even flip-flopping back and forth between this photo and the previous one with the thicker bars I still can't tell much due to the lighting and angles of the photos! LOL! Now, if you took a dead on frontal pic of the body with each of the grilles it would be easier to weigh in here. At this point all I can say is nice work! This style grille should compliment the rest of the build quite well.

Tomorrah, tomorrah, I'll do that tomorrah, and then you can see the diff. And I agree with what you're saying Ed. But it ain't so easy to get them both to pose the same. Personally though, I like the smaller diameter much better.

I tried to get one of those "Dream Car" packs recently but it got bid up out of my range. *grumble* Not even sure what I want it for, so perhaps it's for the best

This has been sitting on my benchtop in paint for well over a year. Yep, just sitting there getting dustier and waiting for me to get out the microsanding paper and Novus polishes. So in the last few weeks I have polished, foiled and assembled this finned wonder. I really love these fins by the way! Didn't I say that at least once before? Instead of using the vacuformed windshield and back "glass", I used the kit pieces. The windshield was as is well known, a lousy fit. So I filed and sanded it until it fit like it should have from the day it left the Jo-Han factory, then polished it to shine again. This picture is just a teaser to see if anybody wants to see it. Thanks for all your positive comments guys. Gary Hosted on Fotki

Sorry you misunderstated me Ed. It certainly is polished as you see it. This is an "after" shot. But also a teaser. I won't be showing it up this close again for sure. LOL, Gary

LOL, Gary Perhaps we BOTH misunderstood each other! LOL! At first glance I did think it was polished; but the 'grey' spots on top of the fender and hood made me think you burned through the paint down to the primer. After re-reading your post I see that you did polish it out already with no issues. I shouldn't comment (or read) that late at night! LOL!
