I know this kit has a lousy shaped grille and hood. But, it was one of the oldest kits I can remember building as kid. I built this around '09.

The wheels and tires 'feel' late 60s-early 70s to me, but the flames/lightning 'feels' 80s to me. However, being born in '81, I wasn't around or aware of the trends as they were happening, so take my opinion as what you see it's worth.

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen a shot of this kit built up. Nice job on an infamous piece of AMT kit history! A perfect example something rare not necessarily being desirable.

The pin stripe flames were copied from the boxart. So, they're definitely not from the '80s. I still have the box and instructions. But, no idea when it came out. No date on the box and the instructions are MIA somehow.

FWIW the wheels and tires, especially the tires, knock it off TRaK for me.

That's true. It was really hard for me to put the hood and grille on it. I got the body in decent shape. But, still not right. I wanted to keep it as close to box stock as possible. I have a good set of four hole slots to replace the wheels that are on it now. Also going to use the two piece Good Years. I still have most of my original kit that I plan to restore sometime. I'm gonna hack on it and see what I can do.

I wouldn't mind having a couple of the dropped front axles from this kit...

I'm thinking it came out in the mid to maybe late '70s. If I could locate my instructions, I might could find a date. The kit number is T 134.

This kit was issued in '76. That being said, the only questionable 'part' of the kit is the poorly done decals. I have photos of real rods with just outlined flame jobs that look great....probably what AMT was going for here; but missed the mark big time! LOL! Just look at the new Slingster kit.........that was retooled/issued this year; but it is period correct.

I should also mention here that the wheels and tires would pass for '67 on up.........since the Hot Rod Pictorials I had backed that up! LOL!
