I'm back working on this one. The too-tall roofline combined with it being narrowed was a big styling problem. Chopping it would have been difficult and time-consuming with no guarantee of it looking good if I had chopped it too much or not enough. So, I removed the roof and turned this into an open car. After I get the body smoothed out enough to be close to paint then I'll chop the windshield a couple of scale inches. Until then I'll tape the template windshield shown here (and isn't cut quite right) to the A-pillars for strength. The finished one will have a normal convertible header panel around the top of the glass.
Another styling (and mechanical problem) was the base of the windshield being too rounded when viewed from above. That was a result of narrowing the body by taking material out of the center. So now I've spliced in the center section of the stock cowl/windshield and it looks much better. I'm not sure if I'll keep the cowl air inlets and/or the wipers. It would look better without them but I'm trying to keep this car streetable.
My goal is finish this fairly quickly so that means that the hood won't open — and that means I'll skip the goofy reverse-flow front-blown intake and go with a stock Riv Nailhead with two fours and normal rod/custom headers and side pipes. The wheels will be mid-'60s TRAK friendly but I haven't decided on them yet. The ones in the pix are just placeholders.
Perhaps someone else can build something like this but fill in the wheel openings and add a bubble top.

Looks really good Charley. To my eye the roadster is the way to go. Can't quite tell what is going on in the back seat area. The body seems to come in behind the doors. Running a panel over that area and making a two seater seems like a possible approach. 30 foot long two seat car seems just about perfect to me. LOL. What is going on the inside of the front fenders? Normally the grille would go into that area, but with your mods that doesn't fit. Maybe either fill it (my choice) or create a panel that has the pop out headlights there. The rear trunk area seems not quite right. I don't know what is needed but it doesn't look right on the sides of the trunk. Keep going Charley. Brilliant work.

I agree the roadster look is great. Windshield I think mag be a hair off the top and laid back a few degrees would give it the long, low roadster look.

I chopped the windshield frame and worked out the basics of the interior (not shown). The amount of work required to finish the car is beyond what I want to do. I'll do a few more things to make it a reasonable representation of it being built and put it in a circa '67 kustom shop diorama that is mocked up in this photo.
