Never was lucky enough to ride in one but it must have been hot in the summer or anytime the sun was shining. There was/is a reflective shade inside that you pull forward to block off the light. Just for history sake, these glass tops were first made in '54

Yes, my late aunt had a '54 Merc Sun Valley, yellow w/ a green top and interior, and it had a green glass insert IIRC. It was her first car.

It's been a long time since I rode in one of these......my dad had a '55 Crown Victoria when I was little. From what I recall he ended up selling it to Joan Rivers who lived not too far from us. This was back in the '80's.

Getting the interior sorted out....surely not my favorite part of a build but I do like the "Jetsons" styling of this one. I used some black embossing powder for the "carpet"

Thanks! It's used in ink printing. When sprinkled over wet ink and heated it gives a raised texture to the letters. I got mine @ Micheal's craft store. A quick search turned up this online source : www.nextag.com/powder-embossing/products-html

The GF traded in her civic for a fiesta last year. MUCH more glass in the fiesta. We use the A/C all of the time. I cant imagine, even with the tint, how hot this car must have been!

I drove a 1968 Rover P6 a few years ago that had a Triplex full length glass roof, that got quite warm but the wierdest thing was driving with a green tint over everything in the interior. Made me feel a bit ill but great looking up through the roof at the clouds!
Loving your Jetsons interior!
