The new grille looks much better! It's hard to come up with a different grille that looks right on these trucks. I've tried three times to come up with something different for mine and I always go back to the Wildcat grille. I tried a similar grille to your first one. But, I used the Olds grille from the '48 Ford. I thought it would look cool. But, I didn't like it. If I ever attempt another grille, I think I'll do a full tube grille. I tried the Olds grill, too. Even took pictures of it. Part of the problem with that one and the tube (also from the Custom ‘48) is that they aren’t flat. They’re made for a car with a Vee’d front. I’m at a disadvantage when it gets into these later models because I don’t have resource kits to grab parts out of. I actually do really like the custom Wildcat grill that comes in the kit but it’s been done so many times. I really wanted something less predictable. I’m very happy with the smoothed out stock grill and it will be painted in an accenting color.

The modified stock grille will work perfect with the mild custom vibe. I think I'll grab one from the stash and see what I can do with it. One suggestion: please don't put those tacky kit side pipes on it! The side pipes from the AMT '36 Ford will look much better. If you want them on the side of the running boards, just drill a hole in the rear of the front fenders.

Especially with the new grill direction. The truck is leaning more into Hot Rod territory now and will be especially so after what I have planned for this weekends bench time. Stay tuned! I’ll have a look at the ‘36 kit side pipes. Thanks for the tip!

UPDATE!The only thing that I've never cared for on these '53-'56 F100's is the wheel openings being so far back on the front fenders. It's just never looked right to me. Despite that I was leaning towards leaving them alone for the sake of keeping the cutting and pasting to a minimum. Thankfully my friends Jon and Wes harassed me enough through text messages that I relented. I'm so glad I did. Thanks, guys! I started by laying out the cuts which will result in the wheel openings being moved forward 3/16" or about 4.50 scale inches. After making the cuts I taped the fender back together and offered up a wheel & tire to confirm I was happy with the amount. Perfect! So I went ahead and glued the fender back together with a rear filler strip made from .040" Evergreen sheet. I manipulated it to have a gentle curvature to match the fender. Then it was on to the other side. Side by side comparison. Full view. Another mockup with a wheel & tire. After the fender work I permanently gloo'd the front fascia in, filled the bumper bracket holes then blended the lower fender corners in. With the grill. More to come tomorrow. Hopefully!

Looking good! I deleted your last post Dennis............seems all you did was quote the previous post above (which is your last post) without saying anything! LOL!
btw, when you get around to the interior you will need to remove a small portion of the bottom of the windshield glass in order to allow the dash board and door panels to sit high enough inside the cab.........where they ought to be to begin with......level with the bottom of the door windows.

Agreed, this is a sweet truck so far! I like that license plate bracket. I don't remember the F100 kit having a smooth tailgate option, was that one of the restored parts in the latest release?
I see a Revell '32 Ford might be losing its hood sides in the very near future...

Looks great Dennis, you've dialed in the stance just right. I like the smoothed F100 grill better than the first one shown, this is going together so well you might have to rethink building this one as a Kerbside, it's too cool!

It's looking good Dennis! I like the modifications you've made so far. Looks like you're planning on grafting in some louvers on the hood. The slicks on the rear look out of place though. And they're giving it a little too much rake. Stick on a pair that match the front and see what it looks like.

I really like the changed wheelopenings and the taillights. I have working with a couple F100's and actually stalled cause to those wheelopenings.. tried to make smaller radius.. but thanks to U I'm soon back on them!

Believe me, I played around with engine ideas but ultimately decided to keep it truly curbside.
