The interior window frames from sacrificial extra body is one of the neatest touches I have ever seen. Brief comments on engine setback rules and such for NHRA gas coupe/sedan category is in: www.americangasser.com/GasserHistory/tabid/64/Default.aspxBut I bet you already know all that stuff. I'm guessing you have a Stone, Woods, Cook Willys earmarked for roll bar, seats, etc. . I don't remember any regs on front end altitude. A beautiful work. Thanks for posting.

Yup, I'm up on that! Thanks for the info. though! The only thing I'm robbing from the SWC coupe are the seats, underdash gauge panel, and blown Olds, and possibly the steering wheel. I am probably going to scratch build the roll bar.......didn't want it to look like I just pirated parts from the orig. SWC Willys kit; or make it look like a 'what if SWC ran a '40 Ford'! Keeping it original! Lol! Ed

Beautiful work Ed - You're really bringing out the best in those old AMT kits!!! I don't remember any regs on front end altitude. There was the 24" rule, specifying the maximal allowed distance between the the surface of the road and the center of the crankshaft (presumeably measured from the front of the engine).

Thanks for the kind words Bud! Your builds have done the same for me! I don't care if you or anyone, for that matter, wants to do a similar build of a '39/'40 Ford coupe. The problem with most of my builds is that they inevitably change direction between the time I start and the time I finish them! Lol! It's hard to stick to my original idea or replica! Lol! Heck, this one has actually changed direction.....ie color, engine, wheels, etc. around a dozen times; and I keep coming back to one mental picture.......so, I'm going to stick with it! Lol! Ed

The problem with most of my builds is that they inevitably change direction between the time I start and the time I finish them! That's a good thing though I reckon. It kind of keeps things exciting and makes sure that what you build is really "yours".

It's always 'mine'........the problem is that I keep coming up with too many 'combinations' and colors that would look good! LOL! That's one reason why I have 3 '37 Chevy coupes built so far; and plan on building another 3-4 of them! I started out building that blue one I posted a while back; with intentions of building it like the orange one I posted too. So, after the blue one was finished, I still had to build one and paint it orange because I changed direction the first time around! Lol! Ed

LOL! Well, just like everyone else here, life seems to happen! Plus, I have to keep up with the few orders that are trickling in. I've been busy going through my collection and making some tuff decisions to part with stuff that I normally wouldn't just to pay the bills and put food on the table right now. I'd be set if every customer I've had would order just one hood! LOL! I do have to say that I'm surprised that I haven't seen a single one of my '33 Willys coupes, the chopped roof pickup, or even the Hugh Tucker '28 Chevy roadster show up on this board...other then what I've posted! I need to get back on my Ohio George Willys too! But, I am going to try to finish up the '40 Ford before I pull the Willys back out. Funny how I have yet to finish, or build anything that I've mastered......which was the main reason for mastering them in the first place. Go figure! Maybe if you start posting more progress pics of your Plymouth that'll get me moving faster on my '40! Of course, you were thinking the same thing! LOL! Ed

Thanks Bud! I think that's part of the reason why I never seem to finish much! I just keep correcting all of the little things that nobody ever really notices instead of actually buiding the darn thing! Lol! Ed
